Every asset (identified by its ticker) must be assigned to an asset class. This is typically done the first time a ticker is entered into the system, using the Quick Pick dialog. Behind the scenes there is a list of all asset classes. The Classes table displays the list, as in this example.
The list is the same as the Quick Pick. BalancingAct starts with a default set of asset classes and you are free to customize these to suit your preferences. Use the Asset Classes table to explicitly add or remove asset classes. A class cannot be removed if any ticker is assigned to it. You can also rename a class, for example if you misspelled a class or simply changed your mind about wording. Select the text and enter the new class name.
Colors are automatically assigned for new classes. You can customize colors. Double click on a color cell in the table to activate the color picker.
